When the map view overlaps the United States, the app also loads active Temporary Flight Restrictions from the FAA public tfr.faa.gov map service (WFS polygons). These are regulatory FDC TFRs—not the full domestic NOTAM corpus. The server caches the national list for a few minutes and returns shapes that intersect the query area (the client uses a broad USA envelope so TFRs are not dropped when you pan).
Colours reuse the same categories as Canadian overlays where possible:
HAZARDS TFRs (typically 14 CFR 91.137).
AIR SHOWS/SPORTS.
VIP and
SECURITY (e.g. presidential movement, major events).
UAS PUBLIC GATHERING.
Popups show key fields from the FAA TFR site (NOTAM number, location,
schedule, reason, airspace summary) via the public
tfr.faa.gov/tfrapi detail text, and link to the official
TFR detail page for the full wording.
This is not a legal briefing. Skydiving drop zones,
glider/paragliding activity areas, and other non-TFR NOTAMs are
not included until FAA NMS API access is configured
server-side.
